Co-owner and lead designer at Black Dog Interiors, Meghan Luby, gives us the inside scoop on what to expect at Fall Market Oct 19-23rd in High Point, North Carolina.

  1. How many times have you been to High Point Market?
  2. This fall market will be my 7th market (I believe).

  3. Which vendors are you most looking forward to visiting and why?
  4. Oh so many! Just a few are Classic Home, Dovetail Furniture, Loloi Rugs, JL Furniture, Selamat, Regina Andrews Design and Aidan Gray showroom for (Diane) Keaton Industries new lighting line!! (so stoked about her & her new line)

  5. Who are you bringing with you to High Point?
  6. Tiffany, our new junior designer. This will be her first market! Excited to share this experience with her & introduce her to our lines & reps.

  7. What home trends do you expect to see?

  8. I still expect to see transitional design all over, but I’m hoping (and every year it’s better & better) to see more unique & eclectic pieces mixed in to the transitional. Whether it be the same style in a great new pattern or color to new finishes or treatments. It’s much more fun to work on a client project when you have more unique pieces to play off… as well as making the client home truly one-of-a-kind for them. I hope to see lots of pattern too!

  9. If you had to pick just one vendor for your next client project, who would it be and why?
  10. This would be SO hard to choose as they don’t all carry everything needed to complete a job, but if I had to pick one furniture line & one accessory company it would be Dovetail Furniture & Sagebrook Home. They both have such great new & unique pieces, different & with rich, bold colors. I feel like both these lines are always on the cutting edge of design in their own fabulous way!

  11. Aside from shopping, what do you love most about High Point?
  12. The networking with people, finding new vendors & finding the perfect pieces to complete the look for a client!

  13. Are there any speakers or panels you are looking forward to?
  14. YES!! So excited about this keynote with one of my faves: ‘Conversation with Diane Keaton’.

And, this one is more for us business-wise, ‘Cultivating Industry Relationships to Build Your Brand’ with 5 panel members.

  15. Who’s performing this year at High Point? Excited or no?
  16. Performing this year are the T Sisters (more excited about them) and Mandolin Orange the next night. To be honest, I’m not super familiar with either one but I’m interested to explore new music this time. They seem to have great experience & voices from the quick clips I’ve heard. It’s always fun to experience & explore new music.

  17. What color palettes do you expect to see for Spring 2020?
  18. Hoping to see some new color, and I mean COLOR. I love neutrals, but I’m a color kinda girl, love the pops & patterns! Also, looking forward to seeing if the paint companies 2020 Color of the year is shown a lot.
Sherwin Williams: color of the year is out… its Naval SW 6244 (another blue, eye roll lol).
Behr is Back to Nature S340-4 (a succulent green tone)
And Benjamin Moore color of the year is a lovely rosy tone called ‘First Light’.
But then, who knows, they may throw another tone of one of those colors in at this mart launch, or even another color entirely… it’s happened before!
